The origins of Metalmecánica Roma
The story of what our company FS Roma is today begins in 1981, when Mr. Roberto Manqueo Muñoz starts working –at a young age and combining work and study– at Mugomas national company, which is Mr. Juan Muñoz Zamorano’s property. He performed junior tasks while he dedicated most of his time to his studies at the A-97 Industrial High School from San Miguel, belonging to SOFOFA.
He graduates in 1987 from this high school as a Mechanic in Machines and Tools. Subsequently, as a specialist in his field, he starts a two-year job at Ditecma Ltda. Company, Mr. Fernando Diez Fierro’s property. Thanks to being a proven dedicated and proactive employee, the people with more experience in those companies saw in Mr. Roberto a wide professional ability with future projection in his business vision. And because of this, he then comes to Macmin S.A. company where he works as a mechanic turner.
After good results and the ability showed by Mr. Roberto to find a quick and effective solution to the development and repair of machinery, he is named Chief of Production in the Metalworking Area with only 24 years old, being the youngest in the production group of the workshop. In the meantime, his superiors kept promoting his abilities applied in team executions, maintenance and complete engineering development.
During this time of great benefit and experience, Mr. Roberto Manqueo Muñoz feels that his potential could make him grow even more professionally. This made him assume the responsibility of team execution, development and maintenance for FFE Minerals, which was the new owner of Macmin S.A in that moment.
The total independence was in 2006 when Mr. Roberto Manqueo Muñoz founded his first workshop at Bulnes #819 Street, Santiago Centro. Along with a selected mechanical and structural work team, he managed to develop mechanical parts and pieces, and poduce structures directly in his client’s premises.
He started there, under the fantasy name of Metalmecánica ROMA (acronym of Roberto Manqueo), to grow by the hand of companies dedicated to arid work and the spare parts area in the mining field.
FS Roma is born
The time of response, delivery and satisfaction in the assigned works of those who contacted him to the development of part and pieces, allowed the company to grow exponentially during time.
In the year 2011, Metalmecánica Roma moves to Las Higueras #2449 Street, in La Pintana, Santiago de Chile, where is his second work tower –this time, his own–. In this plant, the reliable ties between Roma and his clients were reinforced and promoted even more. In 2020, it drove the company to extend its production in the adjoining land of Los Duraznos #079 Street, where the total operative surface reaches 80729,33 ft2.
Then, and with more work to do, Roma integrates Roberto Manqueo Fernández and Marcelo Manqueo Sanhueza to its Directive. They will have the responsibility of following, with the new FS Roma, the same path made by his father Roberto Manqueo Muñoz.
